Aromatic Instant Death Syndrome

One of the most controversial and twisted aspects of the entire Elemenstor fandom and a PR nightmare, Aromatic Instant Death Syndrome is a deadly disease in the world of Battal.

Aromatherapy - the idea that the smell of plants in certain combinations can make a person healthier and happier, has a deep and dark side in Battal - because the reverse is true. Combinations of certain flower scents can actually be deadly. This is the chief reason why only trained Herbalists are officially licensed to handle flower distribution.

The worst case of flower mis-management results in Aromatic Instant Death Syndrome. The olfactory organs and nerves in the body simply explode all at once, causing massive bleeding and eventual death.

However some foolish people, such as poor Flowergirls without the monetary ability to learn the properties of flower scents, often gather and distribute flowers without a license, leading to horrible deaths.

The disease was introduced in Final Furniture VII, and unfortunately the Japanese scenario writers did not realize that the acronym for Aromatic Instant Death Syndrome was also the name of a very real and very deadly disease. Even more dispicable, the translators didn't see the obvious connotations behind it and change it in localization. The resulting disaster totally drove CubeSoft's shares into the ground, essentially wiping the company out of existance.
