The Desert of Ambrisoleir

A supposedly vast desert located somewhere in the south of Battal. Although referred to in passing in some early material as the homeland of a number of bandit tribes, later additions to canon meant that there was no longer any space in Battal for it to be. There have been attempts to explain this in some Fan Fiction, generally referred to as the Coconut-scented cataclysm, but these sources are highly uncanonical.

A theory that is more commonly accepted is based on a scene in Book 7.

The three children of Valedaleglenhill, while passing through southern Battal on the wait to Elddim's Peak pass through a village of Voracious Sandeaters, who are all lying about looking very bloated and satisfied. No explaination is offered in the book, but it is suspected that this is a reference to the fate of the Desert of Ambrisoleir. The fan-fic The Dessert of Ambrisoleir strengthens this theory.
