A species of pale white and brown deep dwelling creature that was thought to be extinct for years. This was proved wrong when several of them were caught off the coast of The Sickle in 3,856. This caused a massive number of scribes to take up deep sea fishing with the intention of wiping out the species so they wouldn't have to correct a recently published set of zoological guides. It failed miserably, because Abcanths are one hell of a fish.

Abcanth reside deep within Battal's abyss and adapted by developing a rock-like shell of scales to withstand the deep ocean pressures. They use a beak-like mouth to feed on microscopic organisms and are incredibly docile normally, but if exposed to sunlight, they become incredibly violent and develop a taste for human flesh. Lacking any eyes, they sense their surroundings via psionic powers. Their underbelly is covered in grasping, powerful tentacles and they have been known to fire off bits of their armor as projectile weaponry. The Abcanth are just on the cusp of sentience, but are not intelligent enough to be considered an intelligent race. However, one in every 500 has the latent ability to master socerery if exposed to the right conditions. They are hermaphroditic.

They smell distinctly of cocoa butter and taste like wheat and sugar, only slimy.
